Mission Accomplished!

Sunday May 3rd, 6:45pm.

Over $41,000.00 raised for The American Cancer Society! And still more coming in!

Of that amount, $6,500.00 raised by KC CREW and Friends! Keep it coming!

We are sunkissed(burned), exhausted, yet satisfied, for now. Mothernature (Our Lord) cooperated fully, the day was beautiful! No rain to contend with. Once again the atmosphere was of courage, gratefulness, ambition! Nothing got in our way!

The midnight through 7am walkers, walked continuously. Not with shrouded shoulders, rather with victorious ambition! Some jogged, sang, whispered, skipped...stopped to add to the poster board, their reason "why we relay."

By 10:40 am, all was complete. Ceremonies over, final lap done. All evidece of 24 hours of RELAY FOR LIFE...now in our hearts...til we begin again.

We are mighty, thank you.

  1. This was my first, but not last relay. The strength, courage, determination, and love was inspiring. I truly had an experience I will never forget. Yes, I was exhausted by the end, but like my current fight with cancer, the exhaustion felt in the end was worth every minute, and every lap. In the wee hours of the morning I found the strength to keep going in the luminated bags that lined the track. The want to re-light any that had faded and keep going till they were all guiding me brightly and the next member awoke to take my place. The tears shed, were tears of joy. To each of you who made me feel so grateful to meet you all. Though my journey still continues I know, especially now, because of everyone who touched me this weekend, I will get through this with flying colors and I will come out in the end stronger than ever. I can't wait to come back next year with that strength and be able to share it with someone else. Touch someone as I have been touched this weekend and say, I am a survivor!

Thank you all so much for helping me and sharing with me your stories of courage. You all have such amazing strength and perseverance! I love you all.

  2. My dear Rachel, What a successful event you and your helpers had on Saturday. Thank you so very much. I talked to and saw so many people who were inspired by this event. God Bless you and all of the people who worked sooooo hard to make this event possible. A special thanks to Cathy who made the selt belt blanket. I believe that is what she called the nice gift, and the nice note about her daughter and granddaughter. With Love, Joy Knauer

  6. Rachel,

You made a huge impact on me and my wife, Marlena. We were the visitors at the Marriott that happened upon your event about 11PM, and you treated us like we were royalty.

We are very inspired by you and Richard's dedication to the KC Crew. We fully expect to join the crew for next year.
